The Love Generation is a collection of poems begun in India in 1968. After travels in Asia, the author returned to Australia in 1970 and during the next ten years lived in Darwin, New Zealand, Sydney and Adelaide. The 1970s was a decade of radical departures from accepted conventions. The poems reflect both the joy and exhilaration of that freedom, and the emotional confusion of negotiating love relationships where the rules no longer applied. In 1978, a Family Court order prevented her leaving the metropolitan area of Adelaide with her children, far from her family and friends in Sydney, her home town, with no sunset clause. She found friends, a spiritual group and a new partner. The poems express her insights and conflicting feelings through this disruptive time, finding strength and identity through writing poetry.
