The Lotus Initiative Book One: Pinwheel

The City is filled with government-controlled Superheroes faced by a fractured resistance hounded by suspicious disappearances and man-eating monsters. Izzy wants to be a Superhero. Cassie wants to help her people. Sam's father pesters him to be a part of a secret society. Windsor has a secret even she doesn't know. Gabriel just wants to keep his friends and family safe. The City was separated into Quarters when they were first built: Wonderful Summer that rules all; Bountiful Spring with orchards and rivers; Ingenious Autumn leading in science and technology; and Overcrowded Winter. Everyone in their place and everything in its place. Until Izzy chases her unrealistic dream a little too far. After learning that she was not Superhero material, Izzy Wentworth decided to become one anyways, with the help of her best friend Gabriel. While Izzy was fulfilling her dream of becoming a Superhero, in another part of the City Cassie was watching the Winterborn suffer through poverty, disease and the uncaring iron fist of SuperCorp. Even the ongoing efforts of the Resistance, the small and large charities in Winter, there seemed to be no relief and her own growing addiction to a certain drug isn't helping. Windsor is fighting nightmares and half remembered events, certain that SuperCorp is hiding something, and that the villains that prowl the streets are more complicated then they seem. Sam is struggling with the grief from his mother's passing, while watching his father become enthralled with the charms of a self-proclaimed Humble Society of the Red Hood. The small struggles collide when SuperCorp doesn't take well to Izzy's vigilante Superhero appearances and retaliates. Now declared fugitives, Izzy and Gabriel must fight to regain their freedom, with the aid of those who have been fighting a much larger battle for a much longer time.
