I picked up The Lotus Blossom one afternoon and found myself lost in another world I never wanted to leave. The author shares her intimate journey of an unexpected year in India with her family. Through her twelve-year-old American eyes, she describes life changing and pivital moments she and her siblings experience. This powerful story, full of color and adventure, is detailed and interesting. The author wrote with passion and conviction. So much so, I could vividly see monkeys stealing food from the porch, hear the laughter as she and her siblings discovered the toilet on the train, and feel her pain when she saw what was done to the neighborhood dogs. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a refreshing escape from the ordinary. Anyone from 10 to 110 will enjoy the journey.

Wonderful! A coming of age story in the tradition of Brice Courtenay's The Power of One. I loved the refer fo F.Paul Wilson. I look forward to hearing more from Ms. Franks, particularly with regard to her parents and how the family came to be in the postion of living overseas for extended periods.
