Book Overview

Aide worker Katy McMann was tending to the wounded in a war-torn country when she stumbled upon the cause of the conflict--the king of Baraq. The enigmatic Nikolas Ramsey hid among imprisoned men until he could find a way to restore himself to the throne. In the confines of the prison their chemistry sizzled, and Katy wished circumstances were different. She kept his dangerous secret, but then he asked her to make a sacrifice for the Baraqi people--have his child for the future of his kingdom. Fulfilling his request might save the country and Nick, but would it cost Katy her heart?

A great read! .....

The Lost Prince by Cindy Dees Silhouette Romantic Suspense # 1441 - November 2006 This was Katy McMann's first mission as a humanitarian relief worker with InterAid, and she was terrified she was going to screw it up. Baraq's King had recently died passing on the throne to his playboy son Nicolas Ramsey. Within a week of his coronation, a military coup had succeeded in over throwing his rule and General Sharaf had taken power. In an effort to gain international acceptance of his power, the General invited InterAid to come and inspect and interview his prisoners. Katy knew instantly that there was something special about Prisoner 1806 even though his face had been so badly beaten that his features were unrecognizable. Nick knows that once the swelling and the bruises on his face heal, he'll be recognized as the missing King and his life would end. The endless hours he's spent in his solitary cell have made him recognize the arrogance of his past and how his previous refusal to be apart of his father's kingdom had been a betrayal to his people. It was his everlasting shame that he would be the last Ramsey in a 1000-year line to rule Baraq. Meeting Katy changes all that. Now he needs to use the charms he mastered as a playboy to seduce Katy into becoming his wife and the mother of the future King of Baraq as his execution is inevitable. This is my first book written by Ms. Dees, and I know it will not be my last. The story though seeming rather over the top premise wise, was wonderfully written with the urgency and direness of the situation giving the premise a sense of reality. Katy proves from the beginning that she is brave though lacking in self-confidence. Her confidence builds throughout the book as she realizes that there are some things that are just bigger than her. Nick's recriminations of his past selfish and carefree existence make him human and redeemable. He quickly shows that though he may lack the knowledge of Royal protocol, he has inherited his father's sense of honour and love for his people. These two make a great couple. A great read! :D
