The story also makes clear to the reader/listeners that regardless of cause, any feelings of emotional pain can often be lessened quite considerably, simply by talking to others about how we feel and by talking about what we've experienced; (an important point of fact which children need to realise from an early age). This particular story has also been purposely designed to make young people speak out if others try to hurt them in any way, or make them do things they do not feel comfortable doing, thus reducing their chances of being abused or bullied by those around them.
