When Andy is born, his father continues a family tradition of buying the new baby a Christmas stocking. As Andy grows, he notices that his stocking is the smallest one hanging on the mantel. His brother's is bigger, his sister's is bigger. Even the dog's stocking is bigger. It's so unfair His father assures him that one day, Andy will realize that his stocking is very special in its own way - and holds more than he knows.

Andy eventually moves out of his parents' home and in the mail he receives his old Christmas stocking.
