Literary is the KEY term

I think the publisher made the mistake of giving this collection the "look" of a "dog lover's" product. And I can see why it's not a dog lover's book. The cover and the contents don't match. The stories in this collection are BRILLIANT, written by some of today's BEST short fiction artists. To say that a story is depressing should not indicate that it is a "bad" story. If it depressed you, it may then be a very successful story, as it AFFECTED you. That's why the key term in the title of this collection is Literary. The dogs in these stories are indeed "used" but to serve the story in a way that only dogs can because of the tender relationship that exists between dogs and humans. This collection of stories may be, for dog lovers, an education in how to deepen our understanding of dog symbolism, and what it is behind that, and what about dogs has such power on our ideas about them.
