A wonderful book of affirmation for women.

Joni Woelfel once again has drawn from her life experiences to bring us a very enlightening and empowering book. This book, like Tall in Spirit, is in the form of meditation essays; each one addresses a different aspect of our lives as women. Joni has a wonderful way of encouraging us to grow in our daily lives as people, leads us toward a deeper spirituality and affirms all the positives woman have every day. The book is rich in experience and Joni's especially beautiful way of looking at the world around us with new eyes. In Tall in Spirit, I was touched by a reference to "tree's that move when there is no wind" and in this book, Joni uses the images of trees again to share some very personal grief's and triumphs. This is not a book of sunshine and platitudes. Joni has dealt with some very traumatic experiences in her life. She continues to grow in spirituality and strength, and opens our hearts and spirits to healing light throughout In spite of challenging experiences, Joni's triumph through her 'horrors' gives us all affirmation and encouragement There are two very poignant essays about wisdom in elderly women. One discusses a visit with a great aunt and another is about a conversation with Joni's grandmother. Joni immortalizes their wisdom and affirms their growth throughout their lives. I have had the privilege of knowing many wonderful aging people. My mother was very active until the day she died at 76. I also have a friend who went water-skiing into her 80's and now teaches her grandchildren the sport! I believe the commercial media is very disrespectful to anyone over thirty. Joni gives them their true place in society as teachers, comforters and friends. Anyone will be able to relate to this book on a superficial level, and as they progress, will become open to deeper healing power. This little book is going to be on the top of my gift giving list. I found affirmations for myself, my daughters and many of my friends. I hope ACTA keeps it in print for many years.
