The Lift
Max needs the money. The job is simple enough. Night shift, dispose of hazardous waste, no questions asked. Just him, a forklift, and sealed drums they want processed in a warehouse in Detroit's abandoned industrial district.
But simple jobs have a way of becoming complicated.
The building has no windows, only a wash of sickly purple UV light. Upstairs, an office sits frozen in time, untouched since Nixon left office.
But it's on the lower floors where things get strange. At the center stands a black sphere his supervisor calls the lift. It doesn't look like any elevator Max has ever seen.
When the sphere begins to vibrate, the doors of the lift open. A blinding light pours through, so intense Max can hardly see. A blazing heat follows, and it feels like he's inside a furnace.
Some lifts don't take you up or down-they take you somewhere else entirely.
Find out where Max ends up in The Lift-a dark sci-fi thriller novella that pulls you past the bottom floor on a blazing hot ride into the unknown.

"The Lift is an immersive read with scorching imagery. I had to crack open the window to let in the frigid breath of Boreas to cool down as I followed Max on his quest to gilded treasures and fast cars. 10/10 would read again."
