THE LIFT: Based on a true story

Set in the City of Brotherly LOVE (Philadelphia) and Based on a true story THE LIFT is the Journey of Little Clifford. A young man who sets out for the first time to make a couple of dollars and is quickly propelled into adulthood after getting away with a hand full of Jewelry and unwillingly faced with the fact that he and his parents are in the same line of work. And to top it off, a partnership with his uncle and a love for his mothers enemy. 8 o'clock the clock read on the BMW's dash board. Big Cliff reached for his cell phone to make the call. He had to check. He had to make sure his boy was okay. All night he'd waited up for him to come in the doors, but never did he show. RING, RING, RING. The phone rang several times before he heard a voice. "Clifford?" He asked as the voice came into clear reception. "Yeah it's me pop, what's up?" Little Cliff answered back. Big Cliff made his left onto Main Street. The Manayunk, section of Philadelphia filled with various art stores and 1st and 2nd class restaurants that lined both sides of the streets. "I thought you were coming home last night?" He asked. "I know, I was but something came up, sorry about that sir, I should be there in a couple of minutes tough. Where you at pop?" Little Cliff asked out of curiosity. "I'm taking care of some business. I should be back in a few I'm not there at the moment." "He stated. "Oh okay well is mom home I'm starved." He asked hoping for the right answer. "Clifford, it's Sunday morning the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the squirrels are having a field day, where else would she be? Of course she's home. And most likely cooking some breakfast right now. You'd better hurry up and get there while the cakes are still hot." He said with laughter in his voice. Little Cliff laughed aloud and agreed with his father. "Your right dad, but how long until your back." "About an hour. Two at the most." Big Cliff stated as he pulled into the self-parking lot right off main street. "Okay, I'll see you when you get back sir. Be Careful." Little Clifford reminded him. Big Cliff smiled as he hung up the phone. 'Be careful.' Huh thanks a lot son. 'I wonder what he knows about being careful.' He thought as he flipped the alarm. They say an apple doesn't fall far from the tree so be careful what you wish for.
