King David was the only man in the Old Testament who was described as being "a man after God's own heart." Born about 1040 BC, he helped to usher in the golden age of the nation of Israel. David survived being hunted by his own king, as well as at least three rebellions during his own reign (two by his own sons). And he attributed all of his successes to God. David might possibly be best know for his sin with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. However, scripture states that aside from this, he was without sin. God promised that he would establish David's throne "forever", and that promise was fulfilled in the heavenly kingdom of Christ.
