This book is a must for those who have enjoyed the various 'Diaries of a Provincial Lady'. Much of those books were based on situations in the life of the author (the daughter of a famous Victorian 'authoress') but her life was much more than these novels. Violet Powell not only provides a biography, but she also gives critical information about the background of many other books written by Delafield as well as a review of the books themselves. There are several photographs included (not enough to my mind) and there is only one of the marvelous Watt illustrations which decorated the diaries. The book is a quick read (too quick) and is very well written.
