This short story is a literary montage of tales I heard from my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, cousins, uncles and others. I have attempted to commit a small portion of the oral history of our family to paper. The events recorded herein were related to me starting from the earliest time I was capable of remembering to stories my father told me when he was an old man. I have attempted to incorporate the most interesting events of this oral history into a time frame spanning less than one year. The dialogue and details of the story line have been necessarily fabricated by the author, but the intent was always to allow the reader to experience these events as I imagined them as they were related to me by those who lived them. If I have succeeded in this, I will have met my goal to provide my readers with a glimpse of life during the life and times of my father, Edgar Jones.
