The Lesser Key of Solomon is a grimoire, that is, a book of ritual magic traditionally attributed to King Solomon, although it is actually a much later compilation, formed within the European occult tradition. The work is best known for compiling instructions on the invocation, evocation, and control of spirits, especially demons. Its most famous part is the Ars Goetia, which presents a list of seventy-two spirits, with their names, titles, powers, appearances, and the ritual means by which the magician should summon them and compel them to obey. The book describes seals, instruments, magic circles, invocations, and ceremonial procedures connected with this practice.
