Jane Thelwall's book has been with me for almost two decades and has stood the test of time with many horses. Right now it has helped me a lot with a TB who was once a lesson horse and has learned many a bad habit of evading the bit by being behind or leaning. What to do? Consult Jane Thelwall! If you have a problem in dressage, jumping or flatwork, she can guide you to where and why your horse is having issues. Not only the why but also how to correct it - which sadly many horse "training" books on the market today don't seem to convey. She gives the how-to basics of training a horse (briefly) and then quickly moves into a summary of problems for each sport (dressage, showjumping, cross-country, and steeplechase). Her advice is sound, practical and applicable. No quick fixes but she does state the correct use and when to use it of equipment for training. I don't know what Jane does today but I hope she knows that her book DESERVES to be back in print!

This is a great book for hobby people. If you don't have time to go to lots of clinics and spend lots of time around horse people and trainers. A basic book that shows you how to train and live with your horse.

I am a hunter-jumper and I even liked this 3-day eventers book. It is well organized and easy to follow.
