First, these characters are based on real people. Frank King is me. Wynd, Take, and Wish Girl are friends from my gaming community who gave me permission to tell their stories. This isn't fiction about imaginary heroes. It's mythology built from actual friendships that span two decades. Second, the trauma is real. I spent 12 years as an archaeologist and transitioned into work protecting vulnerable people from exploitation. I've seen what humans are capable of doing to each other. The pain in these pages isn't academic research. It's processed through personal experience and professional observation. Third, I refuse to sanitize the difficult parts.
