"Legendary Stories of Liu Yong in the Qing Dynasty
Liu Yong (1719-1805), courtesy name Chongru and art name Shi'an, was a renowned statesman and calligrapher during the Qing Dynasty. He served as a Grand Secretary and Grand Tutor to the Crown Prince under the reigns of both Emperor Qianlong and Emperor Jiaqing. In folklore, he is often depicted as ""Liu the Hunchback"" (due to a slightly hunched back) and is grouped with Ji Xiaolan and Heshen as one of the three most influential grand councilors of the Qianlong era. Many legendary tales about him stem from unofficial histories and folk traditions.
This book, originally titled 'Liu Gong Case', is a type of copy of a large number of novels and operas collected by the Mongolian Che Wang Mansion in Beijing during the Qing Dynasty. It belongs to the category of rap drums, so there are large sections of drum lyrics in the book. The entire book is written in a combination of prose and rhyme. This set of drum lyrics includes multiple cases handled by Liu Yong, with each case ranging from three to five chapters, to over ten chapters, and 107 chapters saved. It seems that they have not been copied, created, or lost. This book is included in Chapter 94.
Chinese literary works have distinct characteristics of the times. The Ming and Qing dynasties were a prosperous period for novels, leaving behind a large number of works of fiction.
These works are not only a treasure trove for studying Chinese literature, but also a resource for studying the development of Chinese language. More importantly, although these are only literary works, they contain a wealth of historical knowledge. Through these works, we can also understand the social, cultural, living, economic, and other conditions of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Although a large number of novels were left behind during the Ming and Qing dynasties, most of them were printed by engraving and the quality varied. In view of this, we have compiled and published the ""Ming and Qing Dynasty Novel Book Revolution"" series, hoping to provide assistance for the study of Chinese literary history; Secondly, we hope to provide some literature for the research on the development of Chinese language; Secondly, we hope to provide some materials for the historical research of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
