“You’ve seen it, haven’t you, the world after April?”

"The Lathe of Heaven" is back, or should we say, finally released. It has been twenty years, and my VHS copy is hard to see and is wearing out. I have the book and others with some of her short stories. The original has been remastered with the same song, with a different band singing "With a Little Help from My Friends." So, I will keep my original tape also. I would like to see if I can recognize the places where the film was shot. The AirTran's that were in the movie are being replaced soon. The Water Garden of Ft Worth was used in "Logan's Run" (1976). If you look closely, you can see the Dallas City Hall and Thanksgiving Square among other Texas sites. In 2002, four years after the event, George Orr discovers that he can have powerful dreams. His dreams can alter reality. His psychiatrist realizes this could fix the world's problems. George refuses to follow the "Plan." So, the psychiatrist uses his invention to learn and grant himself the ability to change the world. During this process, George says that you cannot outguess GOD and that the changes might not turn out as expected. Let us watch and see who is right. Do not try this at home.
