The last Symbol of Hope

In a dystopian future the entire world is at war, and it has lasted for 6 long years. Sgt. Weston has just lost his best friend that has been with him since the start of the war. He is starting to crack at the seems. His wife moved on in the 3rd year of the war. He wasn't sure what he was still fighting for. During a battle for a city that produced at large amount of oil, everything changed. He was in the thick of it with bodies all around and death was the only smell in the air. Suddenly, he heard a faint sound that continued to get louder, several of his men heard it to. Trumpets he thought to himself. The sound was followed by a mighty wind that knock him off his feet. A light so bright that he thought he would never see again. Seconds later it was gone and the skies cleared. He called out to his men, but many were now missing. He found empty clothing in piles as if that had been taken right out of their clothes. With all sides suffering similar casualties the fighting abruptly stopped. The phenomenon had been world wide. The war soon ended, and he was on his way home, that was when his world completely changed. Pure evil was now in charge of running the world.
