The fight took place in the year 2000, at the Yakima Legends Indian Casino in Toppenish, Washington. Duran entered the ring as the reigning NABF Super Middleweight Champion, and earned a unanimous ten round decision in the non-title bout with journeyman club fighter Patrick Goosen. Author Richard Baker served as Duran's road manager for the time he spent in Washington, and as he followed him as he worked out, toured Seattle and prepared for the fight, he recorded the events with hundreds of photographs, the result of which has culminated in the publication of "The Last Round."
