The Last Room We Cleaned
They cleaned the rooms. Now they know why.
After eight weeks cleaning rooms and repairing doors in the Australian outback, Avery, Romy, and Bea are finally free: one battered camper, a bottle of wine, and a month on the road.
Then a bleeding woman knocks on their window. A woman their employers said had gone home. She recognizes the yellow dress folded inside their camper. They found it in a room they were paid to empty.
Now every stain they scrubbed and every damaged door they repaired looks different. As people disappear and the danger closes in, the three friends must confront what they missed-and what each of them chose not to ask.
Their work helped hide the evidence. Surviving means finding what is left before the people who hired them finish the job.
