The Last River's poetry relates to life as a journey. The spiritual treasures that we hold on to during the journey include: dreams for a good life, self-esteem, peace, courage, hope, and faith. Today, these are particularly significant in a cultural context where fear and violence challenge our social realities. Social issues acutely felt by people of all ages, by immigrants, migrants, students, children, mothers, grandmothers, men, and those impacted by war affect many of us, either directly or indirectly. The poems depict the human spirit's power to dream, persevere, and to renew humanity and creation. As immigrants on this good earth, we live with faith and trust in God, knowing we are never alone because Christ walks with us. Each theme section (i.e., Dreams for the Journey, A Good Earth, Thorns, In Search of Justice, Being Free, War is Another Violence, and Eternal Life) offers the reader selected Scripture passages and questions for reflection.
