Having read Lawrence Anthony's "The Elephant Whisperer," I suspected that this, too, would be a fascinating look into Africa. I had no idea. The book opened my eyes to recent history of which I was previously unaware, while telling an incredible story of people whose love of animals, stunning courage, and tenacity in the face of overwhelming odds changed the course of history.
