Book Overview

The Last of the Greatest Generation captures the disruptive, uncertain times during WWII, as seen through the eyes of the last living WWII veteran.

"Papa John" is nearing the end of his life and has been harboring painful wartime secrets for many years. A fateful meeting with a damaged journalist turns the veteran and his granddaughter's life upside down, with shocking reverberations.

Told in two timelines, this novel is a fast-paced mystery that embraces generational romance, patriotism, the horrors of war, and the race to find hidden truths that will impact Japan and the United States.

The Last of the Greatest Generation will touch on all of your emotions.

Although war stories and or history books are not really my genre, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. He writes with a very open and honest flare makes it easy to get involved and stay there. He has you in the palm of his hand. The only thing that brought the book down a little for me was the multiple typos, as well as issues with grammar,, and in the first half of the book people were always winking at each other, which made me cuckoo. Austin winked at Maggie Robert winked at Chris,, blah blah blah. Also, I like reading books that are set in places I’ve been to or lived in. I would definitely read another book by J Robert Gould, if I can find one.
