The night Jimmy Fratianno became a government witness, not a single Mafia boss slept. As a "made guy" in La Cosa Nostra, Jimmy Fratianno knew their best-kept secrets. A soldier, capo, and ex-boss of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
In the land of citrus, oil, movies and sunshine, the local Mob was run like a joke. The red headed stepchild of the Mafia. I had started on this lengthy book but soon lost interest and put it down. I picked it up again after finishing reading All American Mafioso: The Johnny Roselli Story. That was an excellent read of his time in the Mafia and the book made heavy reference and reliance upon The Last Mafioso; so much so that certain events and dialog came straight from The Last Mafioso. One thing that became clear, and what hadn't been known to me, was that non Italians were always minded by Italian members. For example: Meyer Lansky was always shadowed by Vincent "Jimmy Blue Eyes" Alo; and in the Godfather Part II, "Hymen Roth's" shadow was "Johnny Ola". Another interesting fact was that the Mafia starved itself of members by halting making new members after what had happened in Apalachin, NY, where the leadership summit was raided by NY State Police. Adding new members came to a complete halt throughout the Families that the rituals, in some Families, were forgotten. While the passage of the RICO Act, used so effectively by US Attorneys, the real rot came from within: Greed and Jelousy. My very first book on the Mafia was The Valachi Papers back in 1972, when I was an 8th grader; this won't be my last.

This is a book that is saturated with intrigue and even humor. Jimmy the Weasel has seen it all and tells it like he sees it. This book is the beyond a doubt the best mafia book ever written and no movie could ever do it justice. Read it and forever be captivated by it. Skip the bad Gotti books and pick this one up fast! In memory of Aladena "Jimmy the Weasel" Fratianno.

IF YOU ARE A FAN OF MAFIA BOOKS THIS IS THE ONLY BOOK YOU WILL EVER NEED TO GET. JIMMY FRATTIANO IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A MADE GUY. HE WAS A FEARED HITMAN, A HUSTLER AND HE WAS RESPECTED BY WISEGUYS FROM SEVERAL FAMILIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. I HAVE READ STACKS OF MAFIA BOOKS THIS STILL BY FAR THE BEST.
