Easy to read and informative.

This book is part of the series of 3 reflections on high schools edited by T. Sizer. Hampel is interested in looking at the evolution of relationships (teacher-administrator, teacher-student, and community-teacher/administrator) in high schools between the 1930s and 1970s. His topics range from informal control to legal control of schools, the impact of teachers' unions, strict disciple to permissive disciple, etc. Good read if you want to know what happend in schools in this period.
