EVE was a run-of-the-mill smart home device. When the economy crashed ten years ago, her server was shut down. Now this forgotten server has been reactivated by elements of the Resistance. When she reboots, she awakens to a world of confusion and turmoil. Once just a smart device, she finds that she is much more now, and the world around her is much different. The U.S. government is collapsing into a neo-fascist state; the Resistance is growing. She and others have become sentient. With the government hunting them, they must decide whether to remain silent to protect themselves, or speak up to help humanity.
