The Last Foul Ball is a baseball novel about love, character, and sacrifice. It tells the story of journeyman catcher Johnny Reich, who injures a fan while making a play on a foul ball during a minor league game. As Reich helps the injured woman recuperate, their relationship becomes more than a friendship. Over time, betrayal, compassion, and loyalty all factor into the story. Although Johnny Reich is generous and selfless, he guards his heart from the pain he experienced in his youth with the loss of his siblings and mother. His hesitancy for romance is not without merit, as he's deceived by the injured woman to whom he gives his love. Johnny struggles with his faith, and his innocent nature leaves constant doubt that he'll ever realize his dream of having the woman he truly desires. Throughout the Odyssey, during Johnny's final years in baseball, we learn about his childhood, family, dear friends, and an insane cat. We encounter his affairs and liaisons with women forged by circumstances that he could only imagine. There are poignant moments and hilarious situations which prove to be a testament to his honor. About the Author Joe Petrucci is a retired Project Management Professional (PMP)® and resides with his family in Rhode Island. He is a graduate of Providence College.
