Rebecca Fielding, a partner in the Anchor Bureau, a detective agency based in Chesterfield, is bored with the humdrum cases she and Darren Webb have recently investigated. She yearns for something more exciting, and it's not long before her wish is granted, as a new client hires them to prove his grandfather didn't kill a man in a rigged duel more than a hundred years ago.

It seems an impossible task since the event took place in 1878. But they soon start to make headway. Then just when they think they know what happened, they discover that things are not quite what they seem.
