The Last Correspondent by Soraya M. Lane is a fine example of unrecognized story lines that occurred

Three extraordinary women, from three very different backgrounds, find themselves dependent on each other as they attempt to assist the war effort in France. Each character had her own career and life ambitions despite the service and sacrifice required during the French Resistance era. It required them to be brave and to do things that they never thought might be necessary just to survive.
