NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions: honeysuckle for devotion, asters for patience, and red roses for love. But for Victoria Jones, it's been more useful in communicating mistrust and solitude. After a childhood spent in the foster-care system, she is unable to get close to anybody, and her only connection to the world is through flowers and their meanings. Now eighteen and emancipated from the system with nowhere to go, Victoria realizes she has a gift for helping others through the flowers she chooses for them. But an unexpected encounter with a mysterious stranger has her questioning what's been missing in her life. And when she's forced to confront a painful secret from her past, she must decide whether it's worth risking everything for a second chance at happiness. Look for special features inside. I absolutely loved this book. It’s worth rereading.
Can a previous foster child find love and a family?
Published by Heidi Lynn , 1 year ago
When I ordered this book I thought I was getting a reference book on the language of flowers, not a novel. I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline of this book and the struggles of a foster child to achieve independence and learn to allow love and be loved. Beautiful story, one I am glad I accidentally found! This book flows easily from the first sentence.
Flowers and foster care

I recommend this book! It goes through Victoria’s life as a ten year old in the foster care system, then as an 18 year old trying to find her way in the world. I really enjoyed learning about the language of flowers too!
