Brilliant, essential reading

Anyone serious about studying the bible will appreciate this book. A masterful and cogent overview of how to approach the bible as a book, but also so much more. Cuts through the quasi-intellectual arguments about taking the text literally or metaphorically, leading to a real grown up's approach to understanding inspiration.
