Back in Umuagba village, everywhere looked like a cemetery. All huts were shut because the elders warned their children not to come out throughout the day. No married woman was in Umuagba village that day because women were not permitted to be in a village when such omenala was done, except in certain cases where the wife of the man in question may be allowed. As a matter of fact, women used the previous evening to run to their various homes with their grown up daughters. In every household, it was only boys that have not done Iwaakwa initiation, and girls under the age of fifteen that could be seen. All expectations were to hear the news of what fate awaited Odu.
