The events which took place at Granton Park had affected Lord Julian Haversley more than he thought. Coupled with the death of his beloved grandfather his actions were not those of the rational gentleman he normally was.

Enjoying an evening with her friends Lady Olivia Shipley had not expected to come face to face with the imbecile who had attacked her. She was furious to find him one of the ton, and also well known to her friends.

Julian, still shocked at what he had done, found any attempt to apologise only served to make matters worse. But they could not be any worse. For the moment he set eyes upon Olivia he was smitten, but the lady would have naught to do with him.
