Gwen is a young widow whose husband was killed in a tragic boating accident. A year after his death, she begins to wonder whether it really was an accident, or something more sinister. With the help of a retired police officer and an NYPD forensic detective, she begins to explore the world of criminal justice. For her own sake, and for the sake of her husband's family, she wants to be sure her husband's name is cleared. Her quest takes her from police headquarters in Manhattan to a federal grand jury and from there to a criminal trial. In the course of her search, she learns more and more about criminal investigations. Fascinated, she explores the possibilities of a career as a criminal investigator.
