The Krill Enigma: Hard Science Fiction

In 2041, a robotic probe on Jupiter's moon Ganymede that was supposed to study the ocean beneath its icy crust disappears without a trace. NASA blames programmer Bavin Joshi, who was responsible for the probe's software. Bavin defends himself - and is surprised to discover that no one is interested in the truth. The whole mission seems to be shrouded in a dark secret that he should perhaps rather not uncover. At the same time, marine biologist Isabella Ramirez makes an initially fascinating but then frightening discovery on board the cruise ship MS Geiranger on an expedition in the Antarctic Ocean: the krill, which form the basis of life on Earth, are behaving increasingly aggressively. The population of the tiny crustaceans is stabilizing as a result - which is good news. But the genetic change does not seem to have occurred by chance, and it soon becomes clear that the force behind it has other, more threatening plans. A realistic science fiction thriller that could happen in exactly the same way.
