He takes time away to hunt for why the judge was murdered which takes him to Chicago, New York, Washington and Virginia to solve a long-standing conspiracy. Along the way he is involved in a train robbery, captured and attacked before he finds out the reason. This is the third book in the Klondike Detective series, historical crime stories and once again introduces an interesting cast of characters that both aids and hinders John Caldwell in his quest to solve this mystery.
