Dig deep into your family history with the updated edition of this popular, informative guide Who are my ancestors? What nationalities were they? What work did they do? Kids are always bursting with questions about their family history; they want more stories, more details, more facts. With these research ideas and creative projects, young would-be genealogists can get the knowledge they crave. Find out how to gather ancestry information on the Internet, interview family members, reach relatives through social media, check the National Archives for passenger lists of newly arrived immigrants, and uncover clues in old photos and records. Preserve the material you've gathered in an online scrapbook or create a crayon batik family tree. Keep the togetherness going by planning a family reunion, starting a family newsletter, and more.
This is a wonderful book to help children understand their family history. I use genealogy to teach social studies methods at a university, and this would help my students too. It's easy to understand, but comprehensive. Great book!
Good overall

I bought several copies of this book to give out as gifts at a recent family reunion. There were some good ideas in the book. I particularly liked the ideas of how to display a family tree in different wasy besides always a tree shape.
Finally, a family educational project with whimsy

The Kids' Family Tree book is filled with delightful projects for elementary grade children who are interested in learning about their family history. This book offers a refreshing take on Geneology, for both parents and children alike. My fourth grader and I especially loved creating the coat of arms. With its whimsical spin and bright pictures, Leavitt's book is also a thoughtful birthday gift for any grade level student. Highly recommended to add to the emergency birthday-present pile!
