Not just a long and winding road through geography!

"Variety is the spice of life" truly descibes this book written by kids from and about our 50 states. Not taking the standard trip through geography truly makes this book a valuable resource for a classroom or home library. Sections on each state are sprinkled with tidbits from the usual maps, state capitals, state birds and flowers to the unsual aspects such as trivia, recipes, books about that state and famous citizens. Visually, the book is a feast. The eye wanders from actual photographs to illustrations to graphs to postcards from the class that provided information for that section. Presentation of information is often through a theme that represents the state such as "Mushing Through Alaska's History". Information in the book was provided by students from each of the states. Illustrations have all been done by the students. Actual photographs of the students that participated are sprinkled throughout the book as well. This book is a real joy to use and truly motivates the users to get into the subject matter. I have used it for not only young students but also high school age level. It is an excellent resource for special education classes.
