He published 20 books under his name and the pseudonym "John Jay Chichester," all released by Chelsea House. Chelsea was the book publishing arm of Street & Smith, a leading magazine publisher, and all of their releases had originally appeared in Street & Smith publications, most notable Detective Story Magazine, which had become one of the leading mystery venues of the time.
