When Ariel was in treatment, she heard girls call the voice Ed, short for eating disorder. But Ariel doesn't like that name. Instead, she calls the voice Anna, short for anorexia. Ariel hears Anna's voice from the moment she wakes up until the time she goes to sleep. She sees Anna when she looks in the mirror, a distorted image leering at her.

But Anna isn't the only threat to Ariel's safety. It's hurricane season in Florida and one of the biggest storms ever recorded is headed directly toward her.
All of Ariel's relationships are strained. Especially her relationship with Jax, her boyfriend who refuses to give up on her. Just when they seem to grow closer she finds herself pulling away, unable to choose between the boy she loves and the war inside her head.

When complications with the hurricane make her impending stay at treatment impossible, Ariel makes a rash decision that puts her closer to the path of the hurricane than ever before.
