Riveting fiction for girls

I purchased The Journey:Solo because I work with inner city adolescents and there is a lack of realistic fiction for many inner city youth, especially girls. After I read this book, I immediately thought of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and other coming of age stories that deserve a wider audience. I hope young teens of all cultures will read Journey:Solo to gain insight into urban realities.
