Alister McGrath gives us a narrative that introduces some of the major aspects of Christian life (which may certainly include struggles). He reminds us about the bibical principles to live a God-centered life by drawing parallels from Ireal's experience and providing for us some of the great Christian literatures from the past. Therefore, Christian living is a "journey" which was not meant to be done alone. God not only provides us with fellowship, but also with excellent examples from Christians that has gone before us in the journey. He's technique is excellent! His weaving of Christian literature from evangelical leaders (such as J.I. Packer, Stott, Bunyan, Luther, and many more) is very helpful in dealing with problems posed. McGrath give us an outline and suggestions for further growth. He's main point: yes, read Scripture to see how God deals with his people, but also read Christian literature...it helps! Of course, McGrath doesn't say this bluntly but his smooth narrative is very convincing, encouraging, and refreshing. Forget the "Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul"...reading this book is much more satisfying. (just my opinion =) )
