My Uncle worked in Saigon for 7 years during the Vietnam War. He referred to himself as an Historian of the war. Before his death he told me to ask my mother for the box he had left at her house. He said there were very interesting papers I should read. He mentioned a journal he had translated and when I looked a year after his death I found a journal of an unknown North Viet Cong Battalion Leader. He described all of his and his troops activities from 1961 - 1967. It included stories of their morale, politics, hardships and the state of mind in the local hamlets. I think this is a part of history that few people know. If you were there, you will know it is the real thing.
