Fascinating, Unique, Must Read!

Truly unique, very well-written book in a raw, "unvarnished" and flawless prose. Heart-wrenching story of survival of a Jewish mother and her teenage son in a communist, totalitarian state, in a small isolated border town, the only Jews in the community. The protagonist is faced with abject poverty, discrimination, prejudice and violence, with most unlikely conclusion, amidst corruption of communist bureaucrats, the police and the always present Catholic Church. This book will make you laugh, it will make you cry, but it will not leave you indifferent. A must for a fascinating reading experience.
