Great Devo

In the Jesus Test, Robert is holding the door wide open for Jesus to barge into hearts and minds. Far too often the church has only focused on what followers of Christ are not supposed to do. Many are lead to believe that to follow Jesus you must not smoke or drink or dance or go to a movie on Sunday or whatever else a group might decide to go against. The Jesus Test stands out because instead of focusing on what followers of Christ are not supposed to do, the book encourages us to get busy doing the stuff that characterized the life of Jesus. Barge challenges us to actively pursue love, truth, joy, peace, wonder, hope, passion, serving, rest, grace, justice, prayer, forgivness, courage, community, compassion, brokeness, trust, surrender and much more. If followers of Christ were actively pursuing the Savior through these avenues,Christians would be known for what they are actively doing for God; instead of largely being known for what they are against. As Christians we must stand against what the Word of God calls evil but we must also strive to be known by Christlike action. May God truly bless this work and inspire a generation of people who are known for actively following Jesus every single day.

This slim book is just the right size. Designed for younger people who are searching for the truth about who Christ is, this 30-day devotional guide is not so large that it will be intimidating from the start, but it is large enough to get the job done. Barge shows a talent for getting to the point, and his history of working with young people is obvious as he speaks their language. Though a longtime believer, I read through the book in its intended 30 days and it offered me a fresh perspective on several things. I can definitely see a use for this book as a youth worker, and thought of several young men I can pass it on to.
