Inspired by the poem "The Fool's Prayer," the author enlarges the context to a "sermon" for the King. There are two stories Saint Cloud says he wishes he had heard early-on in life. Those stories he provides for us here in the dialogue of a the Jester and the King. "Peace is not the mind's priority, nor is its agenda joy," the Jester tells the King. Tells him, "humans have a predisposition to feeling bad," and tells him why that is, and the near constant chatter that goes on in the head. And the key to being free of it. Humans have a predisposition to feeling bad, the Jester tells the King. It's Nature's cruel hoax, a feel-bad Habit we are saddled with, developed during infancy and still in charge today. Not easy to be quiet, not at all, with a distraction built into us by Nature from that early age: The little self that claims the body as its own. With a decree the body be maintained at any cost. Even at the expense of happiness. The good news is, it can be unplugged. It's something we should all have been informed of at an early age. Each of us are meant to know the truth about the human mind. And the truth about the potential for our life.
