Dan Martin was a middle-aged cowpuncher who hadn't owned anything but his saddle his whole life. But he woke up one day inheriting a rock pile ranch and a great aunt to care for. He found in doing so he was confronted by animal rights enthusiasts who would were trying to keep the burros free and damaging the environment.
