Enjoying the series- but this book was a bit weak

Maisey Yates is a fine author; I've read many of her books. I find her work inconsistent- some great, some just satisfactory. I've enjoyed this series, finding the first 2 books far superior to this third installment. The protagonists, Charlotte & Rafe, were interesting; complex, challenged, haunted. I found Charlotte a bit naive, but her background was such that I admired her willingness to put herself and her emotions forth despite life's lessons that discouraged sentimentality. I loved her strength, her ability to move beyond her past and decide for herself how she wanted to view relationships, connections. She was able to determine for herself what she wanted- and needed. Rafe was a strong character; driven, successful. But far too tortured and morose- his past, his coldness repeated excessively; redundant. The evolving relationship between Rafe & Charlotte was outlined nicely. The author touched upon their personal growth, the slow acknowledgement of their feelings and the eventual need to face their demons. It was a nice enough read, just not as riveting as the first two installments. I would recommend it to readers who have enjoyed the series thus far- necessary in concluding the dynamic personalities and relationships of the three successful, billionaire friends- Adam, Felipe & Rafe.
