The Italian's Love-Child by Sharon Kendrick Harlequin Presents Subscription # 269 - March 2006 re-released August 2006 as a Harlequin Special Release Eve's a TV broadcaster, hosting an early morning show. Luca was the object of her teenage crush years before. Now seeing him again at her friend's party, she can't take her eyes off him. Luca's good looks and wealth have made him accustomed to women's adoring eyes, but he's excited by the look in Eve's. Although Eve fights the attraction at first, they enter into an affair. Eve is unbearably hurt at Luca's unexpected reaction to the news that she is pregnant and refuses to have anything further to do with him; much to his surprise. I really liked this book. Eve did a splendid job of knocking Luca down a peg or two. Luca comes to admire and respect Eve, realizing how arrogant and shallow he'd become. She teaches him that money doesn't buy everything. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Kendrick.
A Very Special Book . . .

"The Italian's Love-Child" was the first book I read by Sharon Kendrick. I have since read every book of hers that I can get my hands on. There is something very compelling and emotional about her stories. Here, we have Eve and Luca. They met years ago when Eve was just a young woman. That meeting was barely a blip on the radar screen. However, when they meet a second time, the attraction is instantaneous. Eve has grown up a lot since that first meeting. She is no longer star-struck and tongue tied by Luca! She is cool as a cucumber and keeps her cards close to her chest. This of course reels Luca in. He has been blessed with good looks and is used to women fawning over him. In typical Harlequin fashion, Eve and Luca have a misunderstanding. Eve becomes pregnant with Luca's baby, but he doesn't believe it is his. Once he comes to terms with the facts, Eve has emotionally distanced herself from him. But Luca, being a strong Italian male insists that they get married and live in Italy. I have to admit that there is nothing particularly exciting about this story. I just love how it explores human emotion and shows the development of love, trust and understanding. If you're looking for another great book by Sharon Kendrick, I recommend "The Paternity Suit."
